There is nothing new under the sun

Ecclesiastes, had studied history, and seen his own life through different stages, realizing something that has become a cliché in our time – What goes around, comes around.

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9

If we go back to creation, and read Genesis we can see where it all began. There was no death in the Garden of Eden. Adam, Eve and the animals lived together in perfect harmony as vegetarians. As we read in Isaiah 40:8 the grass. withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God stands forever.

As I read the first three chapters of Ecclesiastes just yesterday I was stunned at the wisdom. Here the man of God wrote with great measure all he had studied and observed. Rich, poor, folly, intelligent, laborer, bum, etc., to discover nothing in the life exists which has not taken place previously. The only difference is the life God has given each of us while we are here.

Sure, there may be new invention, but only to do a task differently than it has already been done. It is our responsibility to live out our existence in as close a relationship with the Father. The more we seek him, the more joy we will experience in our time here.

I encourage you to read the given Word. I hope you one day thirst for its life giving water which will quench you like none other. Oh it won’t be perfect, but that’s okay… for what has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

See you next Sunday.
